Nursing Is Not Only A Job, It’s A Way Of Life

The nursing profession is one of the most joyous professions that one can encounter. It also has heartbreaks and disappointments like no other job on the market has.

There are a lot of professions that one can work at and leave at the time clock at day’s end. Many nurses try to live by that theory; however, it is not that easy. Women and men generally go into the nursing profession because they have the desire to serve humanity. Because nurses are human it is difficult and sometimes impossible to divorce themselves from the job once their shift is over with and they leave for the day.

Nurses serve people constantly every day and serving others becomes a way of life. When a nurse leaves work they find that they are serving their families instead of their patients. If a nurse has been in his/her profession for many years, then the service to others is ongoing and becomes second nature.

When a nurse retires it seems as though the service to others is so ingrained in his or her mind and spirit that they continue to serve others, whether it is to serve family, neighbors, friends, church or family pets.
